Ever since being interested astronomy I've wanted to take pictures of the night sky. I started with an Olympus OM10 with a standard lens, taking pictures on a normal tripod. These would show the brighter stars of a constellation and maybe if lucky the Milky Way or a meteor. I then moved up to a fork mounted 10" Meade SCT and tried some prime focus shots, this was still the era of film and to be honest did my head in. You had to do a best guess on the focus then you had to estimate the exposure hope to god that the mount tracked well for the 20 or 30 seconds of exposure. Then you had to finish a roll of film, send it away for processing and find that the results are either out of focus, trailed or blank... Then digital arrived, I started with a webcam to take images of the planets and moon, then had the long exposure modification (SC1, named after Steve Chambers), to enable me to to capture fainter Deep Sky Objects. Then I bought a Canon 300D dSLR. I now use a DMK 21 mono camera for planets, moon and guiding. On the left is a link to the images that I've taken, they've been broken down into sections. I hope that you like them.
